γ Knife (gamma knife)：

Gamma knife is the main treatment of stereotactic radiosurgery，according to the principle of stereoscopic orientation, the normal or diseased intracranial tissues are selectively identified as the target, and the gamma rays produced by cobalt-60 are used to produce focal necrosis or functional changes in a large dose of focused irradiation, so as to achieve the purpose of disease treatment.

Cyber knife：

Cyber knife is a new type of radiosurgery device, which was invented by John R.Adler, a professor of neurosurgery at Stanford University in the United States. It can conduct real-time image guidance and automatic positioning, with high treatment accuracy.While completely removing the tumor, it protects the surrounding normal structures, which belongs to precision therapy.It is especially suitable for elderly patients who cannot tolerate surgery or for lesions that cannot be resected by surgery.High treatment efficiency, short course of treatment, only 3-5 irradiation can kill the tumor tissue, no wound, no pain, no blood, no anesthesia, short recovery period.It is widely used in head meningioma, acoustic neuroma, recurrent glioma, cavernous sinus cavernous hemangioma, brain metastasis, prostate cancer, early liver cancer, bone metastasis, lung metastasis.

The difference between cyber knife and Gamma knife:

Cyber knife and gamma knife are two common stereotactic radiotherapy devices, which mainly refer to larger unilateral segmentation, and can eliminate local tumors by fewer times. The main differences are as follows:

1. Time: The Gamma knife has a long history, and the Cyber knife is the basic research and development of the gamma knife.

3. Fixation method: Gamma knife requires rigid fixation, usually through a hole in the patient's skull, the stent is attached to the head with a special device. The cyber knife only needs ordinary thermoplastic film, which is an invasive fixation method.

4. Scope of treatment: Gamma knife mainly treats intracranial tumors, and the cyber knife can treat systemic tumors, such as early lung cancer, bone metastasis, and liver tumors. Therefore, in terms of therapeutic indications, the cyber knife is more extensive.
